Does Your Employer-Funded Plan Cover Cove Midwifery and Women's Health?

Many of our patients are employees (or spouses of employees) at large South Bay and Los Angeles-based organizations. These companies often “self-insure,” meaning they fund their own health plans rather than buying a standard policy from an insurance carrier.

The “Administered By” Distinction

If your insurance card says Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross, or UnitedHealthcare, but is provided through a large corporation, it is likely “administered” by the carrier but funded by the employer. These plans are often highly flexible and frequently cover our Midwifery-led care and Concierge services in full.

What if I have a standard “Fully-Insured” PPO?

If your plan is funded directly by the insurance carrier (a standard commercial PPO), it may not cover our specialized concierge model in full. However, you can still receive care at Cove Midwifery and Women's Health:

  1. Out-of-Network Benefits: We can provide a Superbill for you to submit for potential reimbursement.
  2. Concierge Membership: You may choose to pay our flat $5,000 concierge fee to access the full suite of Cove Midwifery and Women's Health benefits (classes, extended visits, and specialist access).
  3. Transparent Self-Pay: We offer clear, predictable global billing packages for families without qualifying insurance.

When should I submit my insurance info?

We recommend submitting your information as soon as you have a positive pregnancy test. This allows us to have your benefits fully mapped out before your initial “Confirmation of Pregnancy” visit.

Does my insurance cover the doctors as well as the midwives?

Yes. Our unique model includes three Board-Certified OB/GYNs. Because we are a collaborative practice, we verify coverage for the entire clinical team to ensure seamless care throughout your labor and delivery.
